28 Weeks!

Today I am 28 weeks pregnant! :) That means only 12 weeks to go! I have gained a total of 21 lbs so far (I have been eating BAD the last few weeks and have put on a few more lbs then I would have liked to :( ). But I am still within the normal range, so that is good! I am still feeling great. This pregnancy is SOOO much easier than when I was pregnant with the triplets!

I am really starting to get excited about finding out the sex of the baby! More and more people lately, have been telling me how low I am carrying. That is the same thing everyone said when I was pregnant with Jade. So I am very interested to see if it is another girl, or if I carry boys the same way I carry girls! :)

3 Toddlers + 1 bedroom = Not much napping!

The triplets are being HORRIBLE at nap time lately!! It is seriously driving me crazy, and I am sure, raising my blood pressure to unhealthy levels! LOL!

Their latest "thing", is they strip ALL of the bedding off of their beds, including pillow cases and fitted sheets, and throw it into a big pile into the middle of the floor. Then they jump off of their beds into the pile. When that gets boring, they flip Kadances mattress up against the wall, and jump on the board part of her bed. I am assuming they do this because it makes more noise then just jumping on the mattress.

I seriously do not know what to do! I have tried talking nicely to them, I have tried yelling at them, and I have tried spanking them. NONE of it works. As soon as I leave their room, they are right back to doing what they just got in trouble for doing!

Last night I was VERY tempted to take all of their beds and mattresses out of their room, and make them sleep on the floor. The only thing that really stopped me, was the fact that it would take too much work to haul everything out to the garage!

If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE let me know!!

Go Figure!

Remember how I was cranky for no reason yesterday? Well, by the end of the day, I had a reason.

Our vacation plans have changed. Gairod got a phone call yesterday, and a guy needs some work done, and it needs to be done by Monday. SO, instead of leaving on Friday, we are *hopefully* leaving on Monday. I know it's only a difference of 3 days, but it still made me mad, and totally screwed up my "getting ready" plan. We are *hoping* to still be able to be gone for three weeks, but may have to come back after two, if this guy needs more work done. So I was REALLY not in a good mood by yesterday afternoon!

But I am feeling much better about it today. It also helps that Gairod has decided to contract out the drywalling, taping, mudding and sanding of Jade's room in the basement, and the guy who is going to do it is hoping to have it done by the end of this weekend!! That will be AWESOME!! Then when we get back from the lake, we can paint it, put in carpet, and do the rest of the finishing stuff like the door, closet, and baseboards! So it is actually looking like we CAN have this stuff done by the end of August, which is what I was REALLY hoping for!!

Hormones

Some days, I really don't like pregnancy hormones. Days like today, where I am pissed off at everyone, for no apparent reason. I woke up in a bad mood today. I have been cranky with Gairod, and annoyed with the kids. Every little thing is bugging me today. I know it's just the pregnancy hormones, making me moody, but it is still annoying. If I am going to be pissed off, I would like to have a good reason!

Nesting!

So I think I am officially starting to nest!

I am really starting to get anxious about Gairod getting the basement done, and I have been on his case SEVERAL times a day about it! lol!

I am wanting to get a bunch of things cleaned and organized, like my kitchen cupboards, and this big microwave shelf thing, that we use for bill, papers, phone books, and JUNK!

The only problem is, that we are leaving on vacation in 5 days, so I need to focus on getting ready for that! But I am itching to do this other stuff too! I don't want to wear myself out before we leave, so I am trying to hold off until we get back! lol! I did let myself do some small things though, like cleaning the ceiling fan and light in the kitchen, which both BADLY needed to be done!

So now I am looking forward to going on vacation, but also looking forward to getting home, so I can really start cleaning and organizing! :)

Last Day of School!

Today is Jade's last day of grade 1!! I am kind of having mixed emotions about it. I am looking forward to the summer break, and not HAVING to be out the door with all the kids by 8:30 every morning, but I am also sad, because it means my little girl is getting OLDER! In 2 short months, she will be in grade 2! That just sounds SOOO much older than grade 1! LOL!

I also REALLY like Jade's grade 1 teacher, and I get nervous about whether or not her grade 2 teacher will be as good. I don't know anything about the grade 2 teachers, so it's not like I have heard any bad things about them, but I also don't know any good things about them either!

Anyways, as of 2pm today, another mile stone will have come and gone - My little girl will be DONE grade 1!

Third Trimester!!!

I seriously can NOT believe, that I am into the third trimester already!!! Where had the time gone?!? This pregnancy is going by WAY too fast! :( We still have SOOO much to do in only 3 short months!

Even though I will be sad to come to the end of my pregnancy, I am also very excited to meet this little baby! I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl! I also can't wait to cuddle and hold my little one, and see how the triplets interact with it :)

I am also excited for the labour and delivery process. I know that probably sounds weird, since that is the part most people DON'T like! But since last time I knew from very early on that I had no choice but to have a c-section, I am very excited to hopefully go into labour on my own, (I had to be induced with Jade) and try for a VBAC! I talked to my Dr at my last prenatal appointment, and he is very supportive of doing everything we can to make that happen :)

Then when it's all over, I'll have to start really working on Gairod for baby #6 ;)

4 Years!!!

Today is me and Gairod's 4th wedding anniversary :) In some ways I can't believe it has already been 4 years, and in other ways, so much has happened in the past 4 years that it seems like so much longer! lol!

We don't have any big plans, but I think we are going to go out for dinner tonight, so that will be nice :)

10 Days!!!

In 10 days, we will (hopefully) be leaving for Waskesiu Lake!! I am SOOO excited! I can't wait to get up there, and enjoy 3 weeks of relaxation (well, as much relaxation as you can get with 4 kids, including 2 year old triplets! ;) ), and fun! I am starting to make lists of what we need to pack and buy, and figure out what I need to do each day to be ready to go by next Friday! Getting a family of 6 ready to go away for 3 weeks takes a lot of preparation and organization!

Then when we get back, I will be almost 32 weeks pregnant, and it will be down to crunch time, with getting the basement done, so that I can do everything else that needs to be done before this baby comes!!!

A VERY busy day!

Saturday was a VERY busy day! Every June, usually on Father's day weekend, our town has "Pete Knight Days", which consist of a couple pancake breakfasts, a parade, a rodeo, a demolition derby, a show and shine, and newly this year, a motocross race!

We haven't really participated in much the last few years, since we have been kind of busy with babies! Last year Gairod had to work the whole weekend, and I had a bridal shower to go to, so I took the kids to the parade, but that was it. So we were quite excited this year, to be able to do most of the stuff!

We got up Saturday morning, and took the kids down to the pancake breakfast. Then we came home and waited for our friends Rob and Mel to come over, with their two girls, and walk down to the parade with us. The kids loved the parade this year! They boys (especially Cole) were really into getting candy, and Kadance was so excited to see all the horses (she LOVES horses)! After the parade was over, we went back to our house, and the kids all played in the backyard, while Gairod and Rob cooked up some smokies and hot dogs on the BBQ for lunch. After lunch, we headed out to the rodeo grounds. We watched some rodeo, and did some games at the 'carnival'.

We had to leave at about 4pm, to take Jade into Airdrie for a birthday party. The little kids fell asleep almost immediately, and napped the whole way to Airdrie and back. We dropped Jade off, and went back to the rodeo grounds to watch the demolition derby. We then had to leave again, to go pick Jade up, at about 6:45pm.

The kids were SOOOO dirty, we put them all straight into the tub when we got home, got them washed up and into pajamas. Then we ordered some pizza (since none of us except Jade had had supper yet!), everyone ate, and we finally got the kids into bed at around 9:30pm!!

So it was a VERY long, but fun, day, and the kids did VERY well, for not really napping, and not eating supper until LATE!

A Balancing Act

I find I have been struggling with certain things lately. Mainly, "trying to do it all". As you may recall, a few weeks ago, I posted a daily schedule. I was going to stick by this schedule, spend quality time with the kids, get the house cleaning done, AND have time for myself each day. It sounded great, didn't it? To be honest, it hasn't been getting done. I have been out of the house most days for the past few weeks, and the few days I have been home, I have been tired, and wanting to relax, so I have been turning on the TV, and letting the kids watch and play, while I sit on the couch and rest.

I just can't seem to do it all! When I stay home all the time, I have the time to do my schedule, but the kids get bored, which results in them fighting more, and I get bored too, which results in me not wanting to do anything. If we go out all the time, which we have been lately (going to Lori's house, the mall, the zoo), then by the time we get home, I am tired, and the kids are cranky. They usually end up having a short nap in the vehicle, and won't go down for a proper nap, so again, I turn on the TV, and sit on the couch.

I need to find a balance, somewhere in the middle. I need to go out a few times a week, but then stay home a few days a week, and be productive!

I think part of my problem right now, is that I am so focused on going on vacation. We are *hoping* to leave in 2 weeks, for my parents cabin at Waskesiu Lake, in Saskatchewan. We hope to stay for 3 weeks! I say *hoping*, because it still hinges on whether or not Gairod has work he needs to do during that time, and how my next prenatal appointment goes. Gairod is hoping to just continue with small jobs for the next few weeks, and then get a big job when we get back. I am hoping to get the 'okay' from my doctor, and be able to skip a prenatal appointment.

I am really hoping that once we get home from vacation, I can settle into a routine. We won't be going anywhere else for the rest of summer, and I would REALLY like to get a good schedule going before the new baby comes. I am ALWAYS happier when the house is organized and clean, I just have a hard time getting it there! lol! My mom will be home all of August (she is usually gone for the whole summer, up at their cabin), so maybe she will watch the kids a few times for the day, so that I can get some major organizing/cleaning done, like my kitchen, which is in MAJOR need of a good cleaning!

26 week prenatal appointment!!

Today I had my 26 week prenatal appointment, and my first one with my actual OB! I love my OB, he delivered my triplets, so I got to know him and his nurse quite well over the course of that pregnancy, since I had to go for WAY more appointments!

Everything is looking good, my weight is fine, and my blood pressure is fine. My uterus is STILL measuring 4 weeks ahead, so that means I am now measuring 30 weeks, but my OB didn't seem the least bit concerned, and he said that my uterus has been stretched out before, so it doesn't surprise him! The baby's heart rate was 145 bpm.

I am now officially onto 2 week visits!! I couldn't believe it when he said he wants to see me back in 2 weeks! It actually kind of freaks me out, because that means that we are getting closer to actually having the baby, and we are NO WHERE NEAR ready for it!! We still have to finish Jade's bedroom in the basement, paint the baby's room upstairs, bring in all the baby stuff, and buy whatever I don't have - which is actually a lot, since I got rid of ALL of my newborn stuff before we decided to have another baby!

I am still feeling great, and really enjoying this pregnancy. It makes me sad to think that in 3 short months it will be over, and I will probably never be pregnant again. I really don't want this stage of life to be over!

"Are you having twins??"

Today I got my first "Are you having twins?". But to be fair, I HAVE had several people ask me when I am due, and look surprised when I tell them not until the END of September! lol! YES my belly is big, but I have only gained 17 pounds, which is totally within normal range, and I HAVE had triplets before, so it really doesn't bother me, and I am not worried!

I seem to carry my single babies all out front - that is how I carried Jade too, very low, and straight out front!

Garage Sale Finds!

I am usually not a big fan of Garage Sales, since it usually seems like you just end up coming home with junk that you don't need!

But every June, our town has a town-wide Garage Sale day. Anyone who wants to participate, can sign up at one of the local realtor offices, and their address will get put on a list of Garage Sales, that anyone can pick up at various spots around town. Then on that day, there are a bunch of Garage Sales, so a bunch of people come out!

So today we decided to go out and see what we could find! My first finds were an exersaucer, and a swing, for the new baby!! We only paid $10 each for them, and they are very nice and in great condition!! It was a steal!! Actually at a few sales later, we found the SAME swing, and they were asking $70 for it!

We warned Jade before we went, that she probably wouldn't be getting anything. She has so much stuff, and we were looking for specific things, so we weren't going to waste money on junk she doesn't need. BUT we did find a whole stack of Magic Treehouse books, which is a series that she absolutely LOVES!! They were only $1 each, so we picked out the 12 that she didn't already have, and got them for $10!

We also got a new computer desk, a Diego chair, and a few other small things.

All in all, it was a good day! :)

NOT the way I wanted to spend my day!!

So the kids and I have all had a cold for the last few days, lots of coughing and runny noses!

Cole was up fussing a couple times last night, and this morning when he woke up, he was covering his left ear and saying "owie!". Of course my mommy radar instantly thought, - ear infection.

We had plans to go into Lori's house for a play date this morning (all of her kids have colds too, so neither of us was concerned about spreading germs!), so I figured we would go in to her house, and on the way home I would stop at a walk-in clinic in Airdrie, since my Dr isn't in the office on Fridays (and of course my kids ALWAYS get sick on a Thursday night or Friday - go figure!).

So we get to Airdrie about 11:30am, and I decide to try the walk-in at Superstore. I get all of the kids out of the Suburban, we walk through the parking lot, up ALL the stairs, and finally get to the clinic, to be told that they aren't taking anymore patients for the day, because the Dr has meetings all afternoon! So we go ALL the way back. Then we head to the Apple Wellness center, the ONLY other walk-in clinic in Airdrie, besides the Urgent Care center. So again, I get all the kids out, walk all the way through the parking lot, go up ALL the stairs, and again we are told they aren't taking anymore patients for the day! Are you kidding me??

So my only other option was to go to the Urgent Care clinic. I specifically did not want to do that, because he has an ear infection. It is NOT urgent, but DOES need antibiotics, and if I wait until Monday to get into MY Dr, it will be MUCH worse! By this time it is already 12:30pm. (Yes, it took and hour to go to 2 walk-in's, you can't move very fast with three 2-year-olds!) The kids should have had lunch, and been going down for a nap. So we get in, and the staff was VERY nice, and specifically pushed us farther ahead in line then we should have been, because they could see I was struggling to keep my hungry, tired, kids happy!

We FINALLY saw the Dr, just before 2pm! Just as I suspected, Cole's left ear was infected. So we got a prescription for penicillin, and left!

I had to call my mother in-law to pick of Jade from school, since they are out at 2pm on Fridays, and there was NO WAY I was going to make it back to Crossfield in time to pick her up! My poor kids were starving and exhausted! So we stopped by McDonalds to get some food, and of course everyone fell asleep on the way home. I stopped in town to fill the prescription, and it was almost 3pm by the time we got in the house, and started eating - Not exactly the way I wanted to spend my day!!!

Money

Why does everything have to cost so much money??

Yesterday, the triplets and I got to go try out a new place in Airdrie, called "The Little Gym". It's a really neat place, that has gymnastic type classes for little kids, and gymnastic, dance, and cheer leading for older kids. They are just opening up, so they were having some free trial classes, to help train their staff. My friend Lori is friends with one of the ladies who runs it, so that is how we got to go for the free class!

Anyways, the kids LOVED it!! They all had so much fun, and Kadance especially, showed some real potential for gymnastics! So after it was over, I got a pamphlet, to see about signing the kids up for a class in the fall. It would be SOOO nice to be able to have them in a class, and this is one that I could have all three in the same class, and it wouldn't be a problem (most classes require a 1:1 parent-child ratio, which is impossible for me!).

Jade has also been talking about wanting to go in dance or gymnastics, so I started looking into dance studios, and was shocked at how much it costs!! To put Jade in one 45 min class a week, from September to June, it would end up costing almost $1000! We simply can't afford that!

So after looking at the pamphlet for "The Little Gym", I realized that we can't afford it either. It is over $200 for an 11 week session, of one 45 min class a week. That is for ONE child. So for us, it would cost $600 - $800, depending on whether we put all 4 kids in. Gairod really put it into perspective when he broke it down to $20 per kid, per class. So the one class we did yesterday, would have cost us $60. That is ridiculous!!

I guess this is one of the downfalls of having so many children. We simply can't afford to do all the activities and classes that lots of people with 1-2 kids can do. Sometimes that upsets me. I want my kids to have the same opportunities as their peers do. But when I really think about it, what is the real point of dance or gymnastics anyways? You spend thousands of dollars for your kid to take classes for so many years, and then as soon as they are out of high school, they are done. I realize that it is more about teaching them discipline, and athletic skills, and giving them something to "do" to keep them busy (and out of trouble), but I think if we parent our kids right, we can do all that on our own, without fancy (expensive) classes.

Mourning a loss.....

I know this may sound silly to some (or all) of you, but I am seriously mourning the loss of my van!! :(

I like my new Suburban, and I am SURE I will get used to driving/parking it, but I am really struggling with the transition. I am not a big fan of change, and I am missing the "comfort" of my van! I knew how wide and long it was, I could confidently go through drive-throughs, and park wherever I wanted.

I have driven the Suburban for 2 days now, and things really are going well. Don't get me wrong, I haven't really had any issues, but it just doesn't feel like "my" vehicle yet. You know how it feels awkward driving someone elses vehicle, even if it's smaller than your own? That is how if feels, not quite comfortable yet.

Our New Suburban!!

We got our Suburban a week ago, and I finally transferred everything over to it today! So I guess that means I HAVE to drive it now! lol! I am a little nervous, I am sure it will take a little while to get used to driving a bigger vehicle, and parking a bigger vehicle, but hopefully it won't be too hard.

Here is the outside.

Here is the very back row: we will have Jade, Kadance, and Hayden back there.
Here is the middle row: we will have one seat folded down, then Cole in the middle, and the new baby on the drivers side.
We will try it out this way, and see how it works. If we don't like it, we can always try different seat arrangements, since we have way more options!

Mommy and Jade day :)

For Jade's birthday present, we told her she could spend a day at the mall, with just me, and we would pick out some summer clothes! So today we finally did it!

It was so nice shopping with only one kid, instead of the usual 3-4! The first place we went was Children's Place, to pick out some summer clothes. Jade picked out 2 short/shirt outfits, and one casual dress. Then after browsing through some other stores, we went to the food court for some lunch. After lunch we went to Toys R Us, and Jade managed to convince me to get her a couple of Littlest Pet Shop toys, and a paper dolls book. Then, before leaving, we got some ice cream from the Marble Slab Creamery.

All in all it was a very fun, relaxing day :)

2 1/4 years old!!

As of yesterday, the triplets are 2 1/4 years old!!

So since we never really got official 2 year old weights for them, I decided to weigh them yesterday on the bathroom scale! lol

Kadance is 24 lbs.

Hayden is 28 lbs.

Cole is 29 lbs.

Feeling cranky and sorry for myself :(

For some reason, I am very cranky today, and feeling sorry for myself.

Sometimes I feel SOOO isolated, and alone.

With the weather getting much nicer, I want to get out of the house and go do stuff! I want to go for walks to the park, go to the zoo, go to the mall, just get out with the kids, and have some fun! But I never have anyone to do anything with :( I really only have about 3 friends who I ever get together with, so if they are busy, which they often are (2 of them are moms of multiples, so I TOTALLY understand when they are busy), then I have no one. It's not that I CAN'T do things by myself, I CAN, and I often DO! But it is much more fun to have another adult to talk to!!

I spend most days talking to 2-year-olds, who's favorite words are "NO" and "MINE", so it's nice to be able to have a real conversation once in a while!!

I get bored staying at home all the time, and so do the kids. That's why we have developed such a TV problem (I should also note that while I am on the computer typing this, the kids are parked in front of the TV. I wanted to go to Urban Treehouse today, but no one wanted to go with me, so I am cranky and don't care today!!). We can only spend so much time playing in our tiny living room, and playing in the backyard gets boring too!

Sorry I am venting so much, but like I said, I am feeling sorry for myself today, and just needed to get it all out!

So far, so good....

So I have been doing my new schedule for 3 days now, and so far, it is going pretty good!

The thing I am struggling the most with, is NOT turning on the TV. That used to be my fix for everything! If the kids were cranky, I would turn it on. If the kids were fighting, I would turn it on. If I wanted to sit down and relax with the kids for a few minutes, I would turn it on. If I needed to get something done, like making dinner, I would turn it on! So basically, the TV was on almost ALL the time, which I KNOW is not healthy for any of us.

Without the TV on, I find the kids are getting board, so I am already starting to try and plan out daily activities for the summer, that will get us out of the house at least once a day!

24 Weeks!

Today I am 24 weeks pregnant! I am still feeling really good, despite looking very big!! I have gained 16 pounds, which is a little more than I would like, but I am trying not to obsess about it! lol! Baby is very active, moving quite often, and easy to feel and see on the outside.

Busy Weekend!

I already posted about Jade's birthday party sleepover on Friday night, so I won't go over that again!

Saturday morning, I made pancakes for breakfast, and it was so beautiful out, that Jade and Jordyn were outside playing by 8:30am! We got the triplets dressed, and had them out by 9:00am. Jordyn's mom can and got her at about 10:00am, and the kids and I headed straight into my mom's house. Gairod was going golfing for a hockey wind-up, so I decided we would spend the day at my mom's house, just for a change of scenery!!

So we spent the rest of the morning, and part of the afternoon, outside in my mom's backyard. We even ate lunch out there! By about 1:30pm, Cole was getting quite cranky, so I decided we better get going so that the kids could have a nap, plus we had all had plenty of sun, and I didn't want anyone to end up burnt.

When we got home and the kids woke up (they all fell asleep in the van, so I just sat in front of the house and read a magazine while they napped!), I got them a snack, and then it was time for me to get ready for dinner. Some of us wives were meeting the guys at the golf course for dinner. Gairod's mom came over to watch the kids. By the time we got back from dinner I was exhausted, so I stayed home, while Gairod went to one of the guys houses for a couple of drinks.

On Sunday, we didn't do much in the morning, but in the afternoon we picked up our new Suburban (I'll do a post about it later - after I take pictures!!), and went to a birthday party for a set of twins we know. It was at the Airdrie rec center, in the "McDonalds Playroom". The kids had a blast playing in the balls, and going down the slide!

Gairod had to leave a bit early, since he had baseball. After the party was over, the kids and I went to the ball diamond to watch a bit of ball, before going home for baths and bedtime!

So we had a busy, but fun, weekend :)
