Vacation at Waskesiu Lake - Part 4

During our second week at the lake, Gairod's parents came up for 5 days in their 5th wheel. Again, the weather wasn't great, but we did manage to get a nice day of fishing in, and a day at the beach!

Vacation at Waskesiu Lake - Part 3

For the rest of the first week, the weather wasn't all that great. It was cool, windy, and rainy. So we didn't get any more beach days that week, but we did get out for some walks, and down to the park.

Triplets all fell asleep in the wagon on a walk!

Vacation at Waskesiu Lake - Part 2

The day after we got to the lake was beautiful, so my dad suggested we all head over to our favorite wiener roasting place, Paigton Beach, and roast some hot dogs for lunch, and let the kids play in the sand and water. So that is what we did!

When we got there, Kadance and Hayden were sleeping, so we left them in the vehicle to nap (with it running of course!). Jade was anxious to get in the water, so she ran down to the beach, with Cole following right behind! This first picture was taken literally seconds before Cole ran right into the water after Jade, and fell. I had to drop my camera and run in after him so the poor boy wouldn't drown!! After that, he was a little more apprehensive about going in the water! lol!

Cole's Speech

So I am not sure if it was because we were at the lake, and I had less stuff to do, and more time to pay attention, but I recently really started to notice how behind Cole is with his speech.

All of the triplets have always been behind with speech, but it has never really concerned me, because it is very common for multiples to be a bit behind.

While we were at the lake, I really started to notice how many new words Hayden and Kadance were picking up, but not Cole. Almost everything we say to Kadance and Hayden, they repeat back to us, and the words that they already know are starting to become much more clear, but not Cole.

So when we got home, I decided to call our Early Intervention case worker. Even though it has been almost a year since we had EI for the boys, I wasn't sure who else to call, and figure that she could at least point me in the right direction.

She told me I needed to call the speech and language pathologists in Airdrie, so that is what I did. The lady asked me a few questions, and then said that they would mail me a package with a bunch of questions, I need to fill it out and send it back in as soon as possible. When they get the package back, Cole will get put on a waiting list. She said it is a 3-4 month MINIMUM wait, just to get him evaluated!!! I can't believe it will take so long before they will even look at him!!

The main things I am concerned about are: He doesn't have as many single words as he should, he doesn't often repeat new words back when you say them to him, he doesn't put very many 2-words together, and most of the speech that he does have is very unclear.

So now that we are more aware of how far behind he is, Gairod and I are going to try and work with him as much as we can, and hopefully we will see some improvement by the time we can get him in to be seen!

32 weeks pregnant and prenatal appointment!

Since we were on vacation, I missed getting a 30 week picture. But I am now already at 32 weeks. I can't believe it, only 8 more weeks to go!! I am scared and excited all at the same time!

Right around 30 weeks, I really started to feel tired and worn out. I think I have officially lost my energy :( I am carrying very low, which makes my belly feel very heavy. Anytime I have been sitting for more than a few minutes, as soon as I stand up I have to pee.

I am also up SEVERAL times a night now. I wake up every time I need to roll over to my other side, because my poor hips are killing me! I also have to pee at least twice, sometimes three times a night!

I've also started swelling. For the last few days, I have really noticed if I stand or sit for too long without putting my feet up, my lower legs and feet get tight, and look "thicker" than normal. I was really hoping to avoid this for a bit longer. With both of my other pregnancies, I retained water and swelled quite a bit at the end.

I have gained 27 lbs so far. That is more than I would like, but not too bad, so I am not stressing about it!

I also had my 32 week prenatal appointment today! Everything is still good. Blood pressure was good, my uterus is measuring 33 weeks, so only 1 week ahead. The baby is head down, and the heart rate was 150 bpm.

Vacation at Waskesiu Lake - Part 1

Okay, I know it's been a few days, and I STILL haven't posted about our vacation! I have been so busy trying to catch up on things around here, that I just haven't had the time to be on the computer for very long. SO I decided I will do a bunch of smaller posts, detailing the different things we did!

I'll start with the trip there. We left our place at 7am, and had a pretty uneventful trip. We picked up breakfast at McDonalds in Drumhellar, and stopped in Kindersley for gas, and to let the kids run around for a few minutes to stretch out their legs. We were making good time, and the kids were doing awesome! We made it to Prince Albert by about 2:30pm. We went to McDonalds for lunch (yes I know, McD's twice in one day is a bit much, but it was just the easiest place to go!). We then headed to Superstore to get groceries. By the time we were done getting groceries and gas, it was just after 4pm. The kids were getting quite antsy, and we had JUST told them that we only had one more hour of driving, and we would be at the lake! That's when it happened - the Suburban made this LOUD grinding sound. Gairod quickly pulled over into a parking lot, and tried to figure out what was wrong. After ruling out a bunch of things, he still wasn't sure, but knew that we couldn't drive it up to the lake, we needed to get it looked at. By now it was 5pm on a Sunday, so of course we knew that nothing could be done until Monday.

We called my parents, who were at the lake, and got them to borrow my uncle's truck (since we needed something to tow the boat) and come down in two vehicles to get us, and all of our stuff. So we had to wait just over an hour for them to get there, then we had to unpack everything out of the Suburban and into the truck and car, and then finally we were on our way to the lake!

The poor kids were SO tired, but they were such troopers! By the time we go to the lake, it was 7pm, so we had a 12 hour day on the road - about 3 hours longer than it should have been!

We unpacked, had supper, and took the kids down to the park for a little bit before bed. They desperately needed to run off some energy, after being cooped up in the Suburban all day!

So until the very end, it was a good trip. The shop looked at our Suburban on Monday afternoon, and determined that we needed a new transfer case. I have no idea what this is or what it does, but thank goodness Gairod and my dad do! They had a new one in by Wednesday, so we were only without a vehicle for a few days!

We're Home!

Well, after 3 short weeks at the lake, we are home!! We got home yesterday afternoon, around 4pm. It was a HOT drive home, averaging between 30 and 34 degrees the whole way! It would have been a GREAT day to be at the beach, but instead we had to drive all day :( I will do a separate post later today, or tomorrow, detailing our vacation. Right now I mainly wanted to let you all know that we are back :)

I have a love/hate relationship with coming home from vacation. I always look forward to returning home, to my own bed, shower, stuff, and house in general. I also always seem to think of new ways to do things, and get re-motivated while we are away. I always come home with a list of things I need/want to do around the house, and feel compelled to clean my whole house when we get home!

The problem right now, is that it is 30 degrees outside (and not much cooler in our house!), and I have NO energy! I was SO happy with how good I felt for so long, and was really hoping it would last until the end of my pregnancy. Unfortunately, right around the time I hit 30 weeks (a week into our vacation), my energy level dropped. I am now EXHAUSTED all the time, and even little things like going down stairs to put in a load of laundry seem to totally wear me out, and I need to sit down and rest for a few minutes afterwards. So I am really struggling with getting everything unpacked, and getting done all of the stuff I need/want to do!

I am really hoping that my lack of energy is just from over-doing it while on vacation, since I did spend a lot of time outside, and did a lot of walking. I am REALLY hoping my energy will pick back up again now that I am home, since I have A LOT of things I would like to get done before the baby comes!

2 more sleeps!!

"2 more sleeps until we leave for the lake!!" That is what we told the kids this morning! They are all VERY excited to go, which I find funny, since I really don't think the little kids would remember it from last year! It is going to be SOO different this year than last year. Last year, the boys weren't even walking yet, so going to the beach and the park and stuff was difficult. This year they are all RUNNING, so it should be lots of fun! We plan on doing TONS of stuff while we are there, so it should be a fun, stimulating, vacation for everyone :)

Tonight I need to finish up the last of the laundry, tomorrow I will pack, and Sunday we will leave! I have come to the realization over the last few years, that it is easier for me to wait until the last day to pack, instead of trying to put things aside earlier. When I think of things we will need to bring, I just write them down on a list, but don't actually pack anything until the day before we leave. This works best for me for a few reasons: 1) I don't actually have anywhere to put stuff ahead of time, and 2) When you have kids, so much stuff is "last minute stuff", so it is easier for me to just pack EVERYTHING "last minute" instead of trying to remember if I have packed something already or not!

28 week prenatal appointment!

I seriously can't believe that I am already down to the "2 week" appointments! It seems like I was JUST at the doctor (probably because I WAS, 2 weeks ago! LOL!).

Anyways, everything still looks good. Today he said I am measuring 28 weeks (2 weeks ago I was measuring 30??), which is exactly what I should be at! He STILL hadn't gotten the results for my glucose test, from my other doctor, so hopefully they are fine, since if they aren't, I won't be able to take the 3 hour test for another 4 weeks! Baby's heart rate was great, at 154 bpm.

I got permission to skip an appointment (since we will be away), he just wants me to check my blood pressure while we are gone. That won't be a problem, since my dad has a thing to check it, and he brought it to the cabin for me!

So the next time I have a prenatal appointment, I will be 32 weeks!!!

Another cranky day.

I had another cranky day today. I don't know what it is lately (besides the pregnancy hormones!), but I have just been SOOOO moody!

I woke up feeling fine, I got banana muffins made, laundry going, and all the kids fed and dressed. I was actually feeling productive :)

Then it was nap time. My least favorite time of day. I put the kids down, and they immediately started horsing around. They were stripping their sheets off, and jumping on their beds. I went in and got mad at them SEVERAL times. I then left them for a little bit longer, and they started emptying out their change table drawer, dumping hair bows and elastics ALL over their room. So I went in and cleaned it all up, and got mad at them again. Two minutes later they were doing it again.

I finally just broke down in tears and called Gairod, who was just over at his dads house, and told him he needed to come and deal with the kids, because I couldn't take it anymore! I sat and cried, feeling totally helpless, and like a failure as a mother. Why can't I get my kids to listen and behave? I am SO tired of fighting with them, EVERY nap and bed time.

So that totally changed my mood for the rest of the day. I just felt down. I didn't feel like doing any of the stuff I was planning on getting done while the kids napped, I just wanted to sit around and feel sorry for myself. So I layed down on the couch and had a little nap.

Now I am tired, and just feeling drained from the day. so I am going to bed! I am looking forward to my OB appointment tomorrow morning, and hoping that it will help pick up my mood!
