DONE!!! :)

Today is technically supposed to be Jade's last day of school, but they sent everything home on Friday (assuming that many kids would NOT be coming, I mean really, who ends school on a Monday?!), and Jade has decided that she doesn't want to go today (they are just going to be helping the teacher clean up the classroom), so we are officially DONE school!!!

I am looking forward to a relaxing summer. We don't have very many concrete plans, so I think it's going to be pretty low key. I am hoping to spend lots of time outside with the kids having fun - going to the zoo, the splash park, for walks, etc. Then I am looking forward to homeschooling in the fall!! :)

Hmmm.....

I don't know what my problem is lately, but for the last couple of weeks, I have felt like I am slipping into a bit of a funk again.

It's not really bad, just mostly lack of motivation and energy to do things that I KNOW need to be done, like cleaning and organizing.

I want my house to be clean, but I don't want to clean it. It just seems like such a pointless task. As soon as I clean something, it is dirty again!

Maybe it's just that it is the end of June, and I am feeling burnt out from school, and routine.

I am hoping that is all it is. I am still on antidepressants from my PPD, and I am supposed to start weening off of them in 2 weeks. I have to admit, I am a bit nervous about going off of them. I am scared to fall back into depression. I just want to be able stay strong, and put this behind me.

Scary!!

This morning, I had the biggest scare of my parenting life!!

The triplets were playing in the living room, I had just put Sage down for a nap, and I was in my room, making my bed. All of a sudden Kadance and Cole came running to my room saying that Hayden was puking! I ran out to the living room, my first thought being Oh great! He must have a stomach bug :(

When I got to the living room, I saw Hayden laying on his stomach on the floor, gagging, with a pile of puke in front of him. I quickly picked him up, brought him into the kitchen, and grabbed a bucket. Then he said "Tape measure in mouth". The kids had been playing with a small tape measure, and I thought maybe he had pulled out the tape part, put it in his mouth, and gagged on it. BUT, he was still gagging and puking, so I knew that wasn't what happened.

They way he was gagging and puking was different than normal, at first I couldn't figure it out, but then I got a sinking feeling that he had something stuck in his throat! I asked him if he had something in his throat, and he nodded YES!!! I started to feel panicky, I didn't know WHAT was in his throat, or HOW to get it out! I kept on asking him what was in his throat, and he kept on saying "tape measure". I was confused, Cole was holding the tape measure, and it looked like all of the pieces were on it, so I couldn't figure out what would be in his throat?! He kept on puking, so I couldn't even try to look and see.

Gairod had just left for work, so I grabbed the phone and quickly called him. I told him that something was wrong with Hayden, and I didn't know what, and he needed to come home right away!! He rushed home, and just before he walked in the door, Hayden finally puked up this:

A METAL KEY RING!!! The tape measure was a key chain!! I didn't even realize this, because they had just found it and started playing with it this morning. Also, the way Cole was holding it, I couldn't see the top, to see that there was a spot where the key chain would have been connected!

Gairod got Hayden cleaned up, and took a look at his throat, which he said looked scratched up a little bit, but nothing too serious.

I honestly think I was in a bit of shock. I still feel shaken up. I have never had something like that happen before, and I felt SO helpless, not knowing what exactly was wrong, or what to do! I am SO grateful that Hayden is okay, and everything turned out fine!

♥ "Mama!" ♥

Yesterday, Sage started saying "Mama"!! ♥ I am SO happy! She is the first one of our kids to say "Mama" before "Dada"! Although, that really shouldn't surprise me, since she IS quite the "mama's girl"! :)

Gairod was saying that he didn't get what the big deal was about a baby saying "Mama", and why mom's get so excited. I was trying to explain to him, that when you have given your entire self to a baby for almost a year and a half (9 months of pregnancy, and almost 9 months outside the womb!), it is SO gratifying to finally have them look at you lovingly and call you "Mama" ♥

Poor Cole!

Poor Cole does NOT react very well to mosquito bites! Ever since he was a year old, he has gotten big, swollen, hard welts. They usually start out like a regular mosquito bite, but by the next day they are swollen up, and they continue to swell for another day or two, and then start to go down.

Every summer we wait to see if he is going to react to them again, or if he has outgrown it. If he reacts, we start him on a daily dose of Kids Clairitin, which helps to lessen his reaction. So far, for the last three summers, he has reacted :(

The first summer he reacted, he got bit by his eye, and this is what it ended up looking like!

This weekend the kids were outside playing all weekend, and there were a few mosquitoes around. On Sunday, he had a golf ball size lump on his arm, from a mosquito bite. Apparently at some point on Sunday he got bit by the eye, but I didn't even know until Monday morning, when he woke up looking like this:
This morning he looked even worse, as the swelling spread to under his eye, as well as over top of it.
So, it looks like I will be picking up some Kids Clairitin when I go grocery shopping later today :(

Jade's Birthday Present

On May 21st, Jade turned 8-years-old! As always, I had NO idea what to get her for her birthday.

For SEVERAL months, she has been asking when she could get her ears pierced a second time! I have 6 holes in each ear, so obviously ear piercing isn't a big issue with me! lol!

Just before her birthday, I asked Jade what she wanted, and she said she wanted to get her ears pierced. I asked Gairod what he thought, and he didn't care one way or the other, so that's what we decided to do for her birthday present! :)

So last weekend, I took her in and got them done!

Summer Fun :)

This weekend was gorgeous and hot! Gairod and his brother were busy both days building a shed in our backyard, and the kids spent pretty much the whole weekend outside playing!! :)

Late Saturday afternoon, I got out their pool, and they had a blast!! They played in it Sunday as well. Sage sat in the shade and watched them. I wanted to let her play in the little pool that I have, but I couldn't find it :( Guess it's time for some more de-cluttering and organizing! ;)

Baking :)

For awhile now, Gairod has been trying to "encourage" me to bake more, and buy less processed snacks for the kids.

Well, I don't like to be "told" what to do, so I originally balked at the idea. But I did start thinking about it, and I realized it would save money, and be healthier for the kids, so I eventually decided to give it a try!

I have only been doing it for less than a week now, but it is going well. I am trying to alternate between muffins, loafs, and cookies, making sure that I always have something that they can have at snack time (with some fruit), and for dessert after lunch or dinner.

It really isn't as hard as I thought it would be, and I REALLY like the fact that my kids are eating homemade foods, and I KNOW what is in them! :)

Facebook

I am really starting to have mixed feelings about Facebook, kind of a love/hate relationship.

I LOVE Facebook, because I feel like it gives me a chance to connect with the outside world, which as a stay-at-home mom, isn't always easy to do. It is a great place to get advice or other peoples opinions, it's great to see pictures of other peoples kids, and stay connected with friends I don't get to see very often, or on-line people who I would never get to see.

But I HATE that it eats up so much of my time. I also hate the awkwardness of being "friend requested" by people, particularly family members (especially my mother-in-law), whom I don't want to be "friends" with. I don't want my MIL to see my status updates, my conversations with friends - it's just weird!

My brother-in-laws always bug me about how much time I spend on Facebook, and how often I update my status. How is it affecting them? Obviously they are on just as much as I am, if they notice my frequent changes, OR they are stalking my profile, which is kind of creepy and pathetic.

I DO spend too much time on Facebook, I KNOW I do. I have even recently started contemplating quiting Facebook, but I feel like I would be losing too many connections!

I HAVE started clearing out my friend list. Maybe I will stay on Facebook, but only be "friends" with the few people who I actually care about/talk to on it.

I don't know.

For the record, I removed my brother-in-laws from my friend list this morning! ;)

In need of a change.....

I wish we could afford to move out to our property. I am sick of this town, I am sick of the people, I just want a change. I want to start fresh, move somewhere where we don't know anyone, and no one knows us.

As much as I am trying to embrace the fact that we are not a typical family, honestly, it's hard. It gets tiring meeting people in town, and having them say "Oh, you're the one with triplets!" It gets tiring having people say "Soooo, are you still thinking of homeschooling next year?!", like it's a stupid idea, and they are hoping I have changed my mind, or in their opinion, come to my senses!

Sometimes I just want to be anonymous. I know that we have chosen to be different (well, in some ways, it's not like we said "Hey! Let's have triplets!" lol!), and I wouldn't have it any other way. I think a big part of it is that Gairod and I both grew up in this town, so everyone knows us, or knows of us. I think we have been here for too long - we need a change!

I want to get out to our property. I want to build a nice big house - not too big, but big enough to more comfortably fit our family. I want to have a nice big vegetable garden, a couple of laying hens, and be more self sufficient. I want to be able to let the kids outside anytime, and know that there will be tons for them to explore and keep busy with, and know that they will be safe - no cars racing by! I want to live a simpler life, and have a more close knit family. I don't want to care what other people think, or what the latest town gossip is. I want to change.
